Ghee – Golden Nectar of Ayurveda
Ghee is made by boiling off the milk solids from unsalted butter, leaving only the golden oil behind. It is an aromatic substance that is solid at room temperature and melts into a liquid as it warms. It is also known as clarified butter and has been used for thousands of years in Ayurveda for cooking and religious ceremonies, as well as therapeutically, both internally and externally.
Once made, Ghee contains practically no lactose or casein which makes it suitable for people that cannot normally digest dairy. It can be used as a butter or oil substitute and can be utilized in a wide variety of dishes.
The healing properties of ghee have been well-known information among Ayurvedic doctors for thousands of years, although western science has only recently discovered the numerous benefits of this food substance.
BENEFITS OF GHEE
INCREASES DIGESTIVE STRENGTH:
This is probably the most well-known benefits of ghee. It stimulates the secretion of stomach acids and in turn, increases our ability to break down food. It also removes toxins and promotes excretion, both of which will help to increase one’s overall digestive capacity.
ENHANCES NUTRIENT ABSORPTION RATES:
Almost all grown adult individual has a deficiency of these fundamental nutrients that are essential for increasing one’s health and wellness. Ghee not only helps to break down food substances but also increases the ability of the wall of the intestine to absorb vital nutrients.
GOOD FOR THE INTESTINE
Ghee contains large amounts of butyrate acid which is a short-chain healthy fatty acid. It is vital for promoting the good health of the intestinal wall as it
nourishes, heals, and reduces inflammation of the gut wall. This makes ghee ideal for preventing disorders such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. It also reduces Candida overgrowth and gets rid of other unwanted pathogens.
Chronic inflammation can cause premature aging, pain, swelling, burning, constipation, and skin irritation. If left untreated, inflammation soon leads to destructive disorders such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, and autoimmune conditions. Ghee possesses powerful anti-inflammatory agents making this a necessary medicine for allergies, arthritis, and autoimmune conditions.
REDUCES CHANCES OF COLON CANCER:
Ghee is composed of several healthy fatty acids including butyrate acid. According to research and studies done by experts, butyrate acid has been proven to be preventative to colon cancer, as it increases the healthy bacteria in the colon, removes the unhealthy and is responsible for the growth and regulation of colon cells.
GETS RID OF STUBBORN TOXINS:
Ghee has a lipophilic effect on unhealthy fatty acids and fatty toxins in the body as they are attracted to other fats like ghee. They act as a chelating agent that pull stored fat-soluble toxins out of the body and back into the intestines for removal from the body. Ghee is traditionally used to remove deep-rooted physical and mental toxins during an Ayurvedic cleanse. This is because the wonderful food substance loosens the deep-rooted toxins from the tissues which allow them to be eliminated through purgation or excretion.
LUBRICATES THE BODY, INTERNALLY & EXTERNALLY:
Ghee is oily and moisturizing by nature and is a well-known treatment in Ayurveda for relieving dryness in the body. It does not matter whether it is taken internally or applied externally, ghee has the ability to nourish and lubricate the tissues on a cellular level. This reduces dry skin, dry colon
(constipation), inflammation and stiff joints while enhancing skin glow, joint flexibility, and promoting healthy elimination.
Ghee is a very versatile food substance that can be incorporated into your diet in various different ways. However, it is important to note that ghee is only beneficial when used in moderation and at proper times. Ghee maybe a powerful healing, medicinal agent but when it is overused or misused, ghee soon becomes toxic.
Thus, when used sparingly ghee can be a wonderful food substance that can improve the physical and mental health of you and your family.
